Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Math Under the Hood ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website (mathunderthehood.com) and the Math Under the Hood Publisher, the software we use to publish videos to our YouTube channel.

YouTube API Services

The Publisher is an internal tool that is not offered to the public. Its only user is the owner of the Math Under the Hood YouTube channel, who signs in with Google (OAuth 2.0) to let it:

• upload videos to the Math Under the Hood channel and set their titles, descriptions, tags, and privacy settings (videos.insert);
• set custom thumbnails on those videos (thumbnails.set);
• add caption tracks to those videos (captions.insert);
• confirm which channel is signed in, and check the processing status of videos it uploaded (channels.list, videos.list).

It requests the youtube.upload and youtube.force-ssl OAuth scopes and uses them only for the actions above.

Information we access, collect, and store

• Through YouTube API Services: the OAuth access and refresh tokens for the channel owner's account, the channel's ID and name, and the IDs, URLs, and processing status of videos the Publisher uploads. We do not access other users' accounts, channels, comments, subscriptions, analytics, or any other YouTube data.
• On this website: our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser user agent, page requested, and time) for security and troubleshooting.

This website does not set cookies, does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and has no accounts or forms.

How we use and share information

We use the information above only to publish and manage our own videos and to operate this website. We do not sell, rent, or share it with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising. Information is disclosed only if required by law.

Embedded YouTube videos

Pages on this site may embed YouTube videos in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When you play an embedded video, YouTube may collect information and store cookies or similar data on your device under the Google Privacy Policy. We don't receive that information.

Storage, retention, and deletion

• OAuth tokens and upload records are stored only on the channel owner's own computer, in files readable only by that user. They are never transmitted anywhere except to Google when calling YouTube API Services.
• Data obtained from YouTube API Services is refreshed when it is used, and we do not keep it longer than 30 days without refreshing it, or longer than needed to manage our own uploads.
• Web server access logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.
• When access is revoked, or on request, we delete the stored tokens and all data obtained through YouTube API Services within 7 days.

Revoking access

Anyone who has granted the Publisher access to a Google account can revoke it at any time from the Google security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. Revoking access stops all further API calls, and we then delete the associated data as described above.

Your choices and requests

To ask what information we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email privacy@mathunderthehood.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

This website and the Publisher are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
